UW+Amazon Science Hub

Amazon Fellowship

The Science Hub invites doctoral students who are pursuing research in robotics and adjacent areas in AI to apply to the UW + Amazon Science Hub Fellowship. The fellowships will provide each selected doctoral graduate student with three quarters of funding to pursue independent research projects. In addition, the fellows will have an opportunity to take part in paid summer internships at Amazon, gaining valuable industry insight and experience through direct engagement with Amazon researchers. Awardees will be known as Amazon Fellows.

Students must be in good standing and have exhibited outstanding academic performance to be eligible for a fellowship. Service and leadership experience is taken into consideration, namely in areas such as outreach and promotion of diversity in STEM. Additionally, students must be in the second, third, or fourth year of their PhD program when receiving the fellowship. First, second, or third year PhD students are eligible to apply.

Application materials and deadlines

Students will be required to submit a current CV (maximum of 2 pages), a personal statement (maximum of 2 pages), and their research title and short synopsis. Two letters of recommendation are required; one from the student’s faculty advisor, the other from a faculty member at UW or another institution.
