UW+Amazon Science Hub

The Science Hub supports a broad set of programs – including fellowships for doctoral students, collaboration among researchers and support for collaborative research events – designed to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and engineering in the Seattle area.

Funding Opportunities

Doctoral student fellowships

Select graduate students receive three quarters of funding to pursue independent research projects in robotics and AI. Fellows may also take part in paid summer internships at Amazon, gaining valuable industry insight and experience through direct engagement with Amazon researchers.

Gift-funded research projects

UW faculty and research scientists with principal investigator status can submit proposals for seed funding to develop innovative basic or use-inspired research directions in one or more fields related to robotics and AI, including their societal impacts. Funded proposals receive up to $100k for a period of one year.

Sponsored research projects

UW faculty can submit proposals for basic or use-inspired research, including direct and timely applications to ongoing interests at Amazon, or longer-term research and development. Recipients may be matched with Amazon researchers for direct collaboration.

Email amazonscience@uw.edu to receive updates about events and calls for proposals.
