UW + Amazon Science Hub announces 2024-25 Amazon Fellows and Faculty Research Awards

Amazon Fellowships were awarded to three UW Engineering doctoral students. Faculty Research Awards support five new research projects that include seven UW faculty, with each project receiving up to $100,000 in support from Amazon.

Maya Cakmak builds teachable robots to help humans

Through work supported via the UW + Amazon Science Hub, a research collaboration housed in UW’s Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, associate professor Maya Cakmak is researching a generation of robots that can be trained to not only grasp and handle heavy products but also turn to humans for help when needed.
